Could: Reflux attacks can result in soreness as the burning starts to abate. It also can cause coughing. If symptoms persist seek professional help.

Not exactly: Gerd causes an inflamed esophageal ( heartburn and sometimes esoph spasm) but not cold symptoms, except, when the stomach acid goes up the esophagus and down the trachea into the lungs and causes cough.
