A member asked:

Completed a 3 day, 60 mile walk. during walk had thingling in left thigh. 2 days later the thigh feels almost numb. will this resolve itself?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Wait and see: Numbness suggests nerve injury/inflammation. If in the thigh, meralgia paresthetica is a possibility. This occurs when the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve has been compressed or irritated above the hip. Make sure to wear loose-fitting clothing around your waist. This could also be coming from your low back. If just numbness, then give it 10-14 days to go away. If painful, then see a doc sooner.
