Fragile veins: There are many possible reasons for someone to get bruises. From your description these are caused by very little injury to your skin. When a vein is injured, blood leaks outside the wall, causing a bruise. The wall is made of collagen and can weaken with age, with overuse of blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen) and poor nutritional intake. It can also be a genetic trait.

Easy bruising: If you are one of those people who bruises easily, you may be completely healthy! some people seem to have more fragile tissues that tear and bleed under the skin ( ecchymosis). The platelets are the blood cells involved in clotting our blood. Mild decrease in number or function could cause easy bruising, as can decreased function of blood clotting proteins like von willebrand factor.
