Yes: L5-s1 disk herniation, or slipped disc, can irritate either the L5 or s1 nerve root. Nerve irritation can cause leg pain, weakness, numbness. These symptoms can radiate down to the foot. This might affect your toes when walking. See your doctor, who can decide if MRI is needed, and if you need treatment.
