A member asked:

Prostate pain and chills/shivering during night erection. far from hospital for 2 weeks, but have penicillin (dicloxacilina). take it? wait?

Prostatitis: Penicillin will not penetrate into the prostate and there are many organisms that are commonly responsible for prostatic infection that are not sensitive to penicillin derivatives. Would strongly suggest you see a doctor asap. The chills and shivering suggest that the bacteria may be entering your bloodstream from the prostate. Not a good sign. See somebody soon.

Prostatitis?: Penicillin is not likely to help. Ciprofloxacin is an option after examination by a doctor. It may not even be a bacterial infection. You may want to check on www.Emedicine - for free.
