Your partner?: If your partner is very large you can experience pain from over streaching the suspensory ligaments. Another thought is not enough foreplay. Normally the vagina widens, lengthens and increases lubrication with foreplay. 'quickies' are fun and emotionally satisfying but may be not so good physiologically.
