Yes: Unfortunately, rejection of the blood clot causes a dry socket. Any thing that loosens a clot can recur, but this is uncommon.

Not possible: It is not possible to get a dry socket twice. If the socket does not heal after a few weeks after dry socket treatment may be caused by other medical conditions (e.g. osteonecrosis).
