Will tetanus only affect one side of the jaw?

Unlikely: Tetanus is a bacterial infection that affects the nervous system making the muscles contract. It is pretty much non existent in the United States due to immunization. If you are having problems on only one side of the jaw, see a dentist and have it evaluated.

No. TMJ: No. True tetanus is a systemic problem, and would affect both jaws. You likely have a TMJ problem. See a TMJ expert. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.
