Unknown, encouraging: Transcutaneous aortic valve replacement is a new technology. The valve itself is placed by cushing the old valve in place. It is used when the standard operation is too risky. So the valve may last as long as the patient is alive. It is not recommended if you can have valve by surgery. If the valve wears out then a repeat tavr may be the next step. Hope this helps.

Unknown: Tavr procedures have only been done for a few years in the us. Conventional open heart surgery tissue valves are known to last in excess of 20 years. However, some current catheter valves have had to be re replaced as short as 2-3 years.
