My sons eyelid is a purple and puffy, is that a shiner?

Sometimes: Depends upon the history. Did he get struck around the eye with a fist, a ball or some blunt object so that he has bruising around the eye? Is there swelling? Was the eye struck and is the vision ok? Or did the purple appear with no outside force which could indicate a blood disorder, or tumor? Have your ophthalmologist see your son and sort this out.
