A member asked:

Is it possible for me to drink alcohol after a scaling and root planing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Preferably not: It is suggested to stay away from alcohol, mouth washes with high alcohol, and even antibiotic rinses like Chlorhexidine after gum surgery because it can affect healing. Scaling and root planing is a pre surgical procedure, but we are still hoping for re attachment of gum fibers to the root surface so rinsing with plain salt water and avoiding alcohol is preferred.
