Probably not: Epi pen is used for patients who are experiencing anaphylaxis. In general, in a patient with asthma and asthma only, then epi pen would not be appropriate. Asthma patients should be using rescue and controller medications as appropriate.

Mgt: Epi pen and Epi Pen Junior may be used to treat severe reactions which can manifest as respiratory distress. Once a child reaches the weight of 33 lbs, Epi Pen junior is available.
