A member asked:

For acute bronchitis treatment, would benadryl (diphenhydramine) help?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bronchitis: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is an antihistamine, used for allergic reactions. If you truly have bronchitis, you may need an antibiotic, but also would benefit from a mucolytic, such as Mucinex or similar, to thin the mucus secretions and clear them. I suggest you see your provider to determine most appropriate treatment.
