Lorazepam: Lorazepam can be prescribed for virtually any type of anxiety or stress related condition. The dosage range can be anywhere from 0.5 mg a day to 2 mg four times a day. The latter dose is used only in extremely refractory panic disorder. It is also used in the emergency room to calm down people with bipolar disorder or schizophrenia who have extreme agitation. It can be used before flights in people with simple phobias of flying.

Lorazepam: Lorazepam can be used in acute seizures; sometimes in symptoms of acute withdrawal from other benzodiazepines or alcohol; high anxiety. Some physicians are liberal with it, yet it's also a habit-forming medication which needs respect and monitoring. If can be temporarily helpful in panic disorder; in catatonic schizophrenia; and in flying phobias. Doses depend on need -- .5mg to 2mg, etc.
