i had my very first bottle of magnesium citrate yesterday at 6 p.m. what does it do, how long does it last, and how dangerous? it said citric acid?

What?: Why did you take a medication not knowing what it does/is for? Magcitrate treats constipation. It usually is "effective" within 6 hrs, if going to see results. Can cause gassy/abdominal cramps and pain while it tries to make things move. Citric acid is in all citrus fruits, among many other things for flavoring and preservation.

Yes: As long as you don't take too much. Usually 400-600 mg daily is safe. Too much may cause diarrhea.
