Treat with meds: While some doctors still use a TSH level of 4 as a cutoff, optimal TSH levels during pregnancy are less than 2, so your level of 5 would require treatment with thyroid hormone replacement. This is important for you and the baby.

It is allowed: Not only is it allowed but it is recommended. It is important maintain normal thyroid levels during your pregnancy, and the medication will not directly effect the baby.
