Doesn't have to take: He doesn't have to take pills in order to see a doctor. There are other treatments for these symptoms besides medicines including cognitive behavioral therapy, relaxation and meditation techniques.

Panic ; pill phobia: Your friend's panic is not as strong as his pill phobia. Phobia's are far more lethal than panic. Some day when he thinks he is panicking he may actually be having a heart attack and the phobia may lead to his demise. It is truly sad. Show him this and tell him cognitive therapy may help both without pills. You may save his life.
