How long does it take to get over thyrotoxicotis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: If you treat with radioactive iodine (131-I), it could be resolved in as little as 6-10 weeks (but could take longer, and sometimes the treatment dose is too low, and doesn't cure it at all). If you're trying to treat it with methimazole, the data suggest that if you treat for 2 years, you have about a 50% chance of it being cured. Thus most patients' preference for radioactive iodine. Good luck!
