Sperm + egg : Pregnancy occurs when a sperm fertilize is an egg. If either are missing and pregnancy will not occur. The problem with trying to predict fertility is that you don't always know when you ovulate. You can time things as best as possible but it will always still have a high failure rate. Ovulation is not always predictable.
