CONSIDER THIS: You may possess an occult sleep disorder such as sleep apnea, but could have anemia, thyroid problem, depression. The category of fatigue could be explored. In short, there may be a very simple problem which could be readily reversed. See your physician, get a full exam and blood studies, as sorting this out can improve quality of life. Sleep Study?: Excessive daytime sleepiness despite adequate sleep (8 hours) implies poor quality sleep. There are a few causes, including medication effects, but sleep apnea is the most important because it can lead to stroke, heart attack and dementia. A sleep study can tell you if you have it. A common sign of sleep apnea is snoring, especially if you are overweight.
