Depends: Whether or not root canal therapy may be indicated or not will depend on the direction and extent of the crack. Your dentist should evaluate your tooth to determine what type of treatment is indicated.

Depends: Most bad toothaches are root canal problems. Cracked teeth are the second most common reason for needing a root canal.( decay is 1) if the endodontist determines the crack is manageable, then the root canal and a crown should be the best treatment. Some cracks are too extensive to save a tooth, and extraction is necessary.

Maybe a root canal: Princess was your tooth hurting to hot, to cold, to chewing or biting? Was the pain spontaneous or was it provoked like by a hot cup of coffee or tea? Is the pain a dull ache or a sharp pain? You say your tooth is cracked but how bad is the crack? I would advise you seek the care or a dentist as soon as you can. They will need to look at your tooth and take an x-ray to help diagnose your prob.
