Muscle strain.: Probably, you slept in a bad position and your muscles were stretched beyond the normal. They inflamed, and hurt. Warm the area, and relax. It'll go away eventually. If worse, take muscle relaxant (carisoprodol ?).Also an analgesic like motrin, is ok.

Neck strain: You may be experiencing spasms from muscle strain/sprain. Initial treatments include heat or cold, light massage, anti-inflammatory meds, if you are still feeling bad, check in with your doctor to see if you need to take other medications, or have x-rays or mris. Often, patients get better on their own without much treatment. Hope you get better.
