14 days before: An easy way to remember ovulation is that it occurs 14 days before your next cycle. If you know how many days between periods then you can calculate an approximate ovulation date. Sperm must be present for conception to occur so it can not happen from having a finger inserted in your vagina. Start birth control if you want to avoid pregnancy and plan to be sexually active.
