Bursitis possibly: 'trochanteric' pain sounds like pain coming from the outside prominence of your hip...Greater trochanteric bursitis is common and can be managed w/nsaids/voltaren cream and a steroid injection. If you are having pain when you move your hip around(groin or thigh pain) or having pain tying your shoes etc.Than an arthritic problem in your hip needs to be ruled out.See your ors if pain continues.Gl!
