Good alternative: Haldol (haloperidol) is the mainstay of the pharmacological treatment. It has better dosing titration (like every 15 min as needed) than quetiapine (every six hours as needed). Ideally, non pharmocological is the best way to reduce hyperactive delirium is to remove from noise and lines (like iv, ekg, oxygen monitoring, etc) and to start good lighting, hearing, one on one with family member and soothing music.
