Cough: There are a number of possibilities here. It could be irritation following an upper respiratory infection, with dryness and irritation. Allergies and post-nasal drainage also possible. At that age also have to think of inhaled foreign body, as 13 m/o put everything into their mouths. Environmental exposures also, such as smoke, dust, dry environment either at home or at a sitter/daycare.
