Many possibilities: How long has the bump been there and is it growing, inflamed and is it on the surface or inside? These are questions that your ophthalmologist will ask you and use the exam to determine if this is a chalazion, a benign nevus, or a variety of other possibilities.

Lot of things: Without a better description, it could be alot of things. Viral infection, skin tags, stye, and even a bug bite. There's really no way to tell unless examined at a slit lamp.
