A member asked:

Can a pinched nerve in the neck be the cause of headache?

It can: The pinched nerve can cause a occipital headache if it is at the c34 level, otherwise indirect muscular headaches can occur from mechanical disc and muscular injuries. Headaches associated with visual changes and in the front of the head are usually not associated with the neck directly.

Potentially: The usual causes of a pinched nerve in the neck are disc herniation, bone spurs or collapsed disc space. Most patients have arm pain, numbness or weakness in the area served by the irritated nerve. Occasionally, patients will also complain of headaches, jaw pain. Check with a neurosurgeon.
