Hematoma: Your tibia( shin) bone is not covered w/ muscles in the front of the bone esp.Farther down your leg. Contusions to it are common and small collections of blood beneath the skin( hematomas )are also common. Nothing to worry about ; it should go away slowly w/ time.

Probably hematoma: Most likely it is a hematoma, especially if it is slowly getting smaller. Some muay thai fighters that have knobby shins from kicking hard objects over time -in that case the shin bone actually begins forming bony calluses due to the abuse - similar to the large knuckles some fighters get from punching. Always ice a bruise as fast as you can after training, and put an ace bandage over it.
