Probably not: The most likely cause is nose picking -- particularly in children with allergies. Allergies cause the nasal mucous membranes to swell and become blood-filled and more easily damaged by little fingers. Allergies also make the nose itch more and just rubbing the outside of the nose vigorously can cause enough trauma to start a nose bleed. If your child has allergies -- treat them!

Common: The nose is covered inside by thin membranes; many capillaries that add moisture to dry air when we breathe. Conditions that irritate the nose, like pollen, dust, smoke etc.Often drive a child to rub the nose or pick it.Half awake kids often rub their face in their pillow ; you find a bloody pillowcase in the morning.Nasal gel or saline at bedtime can help. Check with your doc if it continues.
