Gynecomastia: Sounds like he has something called "gynecomastia". This is normal in boys going through puberty and shouldn't cause any alarm. It can last anywhere from a few months to 2 years. If the pain becomes unbearable, or if there is any discharge, see your doctor.

Part of puberty: During adolescence, male breast enlargement is most often benign and rarely pathologic. It persists for 6 to 18 months and usually resolves spontaneously. See a dr. If ● they are growing very fast ●have grown a lot (> 2 to 3 inches of tissue under the nipple) ●very painful ●worry or embarrass you ●you also have a lump on one of your testes, or you think you may have another illness.

Gynecomastia: Pubertal gynecomastia will occur in 1/3 to 1/2 of males &generally last about a year before fading.Up to 3 years is noted occasionally before disappearing. Overweight kids can appear to have it from just fat accumulation. It can scare some kids and cause some emotional stress, but if they know many of their friends have it (but won't admit it) they may feel better.
