A member asked:

If you hav plebitis through havin a needle in ur arm for too long, and there is pain should you stay off the contraceptive pill until its fully healed?

No: Phlebitis is common after having an IV in your arm, especially if the IV has been there for a long time (ivs should be changed every 72 hrs). If the phlebitis is minor and only around the IV site, it is most likely ok to begin contraceptive pills. If the phlebitis is extensive moving upward from the site of the IV toward your shoulder, see your physician.

NO: Superficial phlebitis related to an IV does not require oral contraceptive cessation.
