VIT-D Deficiency: One billion people on earth are vit-d deficient including kids. Between 11 to 18 year age, 3-5 glasses of milk/day is needed for healthy bone growth. Vit-d helps calcium absorption. Blood test is available to see level (normal: 30 - 100). Depending on deficiency, her pediatrician will give rx. Some sunlight exposure is helpful. See a doctor: Vit. D can manifest with deformities of the bones(known as rickets) it can also present if there is renal insufficiency. In order to find out if this girl truly is lacking vit. D, a full physical exam, including blood work should be done by a doctor. The current recommendations for daily vit. D intake is 600 iu. You can find vit. D in fish liver oils, fatty fish, eggs, milk, moderate sun exposure.
