what is a virtual colonoscpy?

Dr. Eric Kaplan

This is: An alternative to regular colonoscopy and basically is a ct scan of your abdomen with contrast that the software reconstructs your colon and allows the radiologist to virtually travel thru your colon. It is not as accurate, nor covered by most insurance companies but is indicated when a colonoscopy can not be performed. Also if polyps are found on ct you will need a colonoscopy anyway.
