65yo dad just diagnosis with severe central sleep apnea. ahi 35, 0 min rem sleep. causing poor memory, concentration problems, difficulty problem solving?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Apnea symptoms: Sleep apnea central or obstructive can cause the symptoms. The bigger issue is how the oxygen drops at night. The doctor should have that on the report. If this clears with CPAP bipap, then there should be considerable improvement. Given the symptoms however i would also think that a general work up for causes of cognitive deficits would also be in order and your family doctor can take care of that. 20% of people with sleep apnea also have depression and if that is the case that should also be treated. Best wishes.
