Scars=permanent: Most bug bites don't cause scar, but those that result in scars often because of secondary persistent scratching/traumatizing the areas due to itching etc.. Unfortunately once the scar (medically known as dermatofibroma) is formed, it is permanent. There are treatments to reduce/minimize the scars, but no known cure. Prevention is key! consult your doc if it is bothersome.. Good luck.

Insect bites: It is likely that you do not actually have scars from the insect bites, but merely areas of discoloration and inflammation. An injury to the skin must be quite severe to produce a permanent scar. All inflammations, from bites, pimples, scratches or light burns, leave redness and then later, discoloration.You should avoid the sun on these areas and use Hydrocortisone cream 1%, wait a few monthts.
