Pregnancy: If you have a Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud, it will only provide contraception for 5 years. A Mirena (levonorgestrel) will not provide birth control beyond that time, and you risk becoming pregnant. You should use an additional form of birth control in the meantime and see your doctor to have your iud removed.
