Diet / meds: Treatment is a diet restricted in purines and the addition of medications to reduce levels of uric acid in the blood. If attacks are infrequent and minor, treatment may be limited to symptomatic treatment with non steroidal anti inflammatories.

With medication: Antiinflammatories, and Colchicine are used to address the pain and inflammation of the [acute] gout attack. Allopurinol is commonly used to control uric acid levels. There are other options available as well- talk to your doctor.
