It can burn the : Retina similar to what a laser pointer would do. I doubt that other animals even notice or know what a solar eclipse, but the result would be the same if the animal were curious enough to look at an eclipse.

Focused light: Looking at a solar eclipse with the unprotected eye can cause a burn, especially a problem at the fovea. This happens because the lower light intensity at maximum coverage ca/uses the pupil to open widely, and then as the sun is uncovered its intense rays are focused for the burn. This would happen to animals except they don't stare at eclipses and if it happened how would they tell you?
