GLP-1 agonist: Victoza (liraglutide) is a glp-1 agonist. Glp-1 is a hormone produced by the intestine that helps in decreasing the amount of glucose produced by the liver, and to slow the transit of food through the stomach to make you feel full and decrease postprandial glucose spikes. Slowing gastric emptying can cause nausea and vomiting. There is also the very slight possibility of the medication causing pancreatitis.
