Inflammation: Usually this is due to inflammation of the bursa above the rotator cuff muscles and tendons of the shoulder. It can be due to trauma, but often results from repetitive use. Often called impingement syndrome. The throbbing is from the swollen tissues and increased vascularity. Ice, rest and nsaids often used. If it continues, seek treatment. Injections and physical therapy often used.
