A member asked:

Few cases of iritis. had blood tests for hlab27. one was positive, one was negative. neg test was by pcr. is it safe to say that i do not have hlab27?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Different antisera have different sensitivities for hla-b27 and the antigen is not always the same molecule in different families anyway. Plus, testing for hla-b27 is only a guide that makes a particular diagnosis (ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis) more or less likely in any case. Don't give it another thought.
