Additional Testing: It is possible you have gout. I have seen this from a minor injury like a fracture and the pain from the sheet touching the toe is classic. A uric acid level will help with the diagnosis. X-rays should also be taken to determine if the bone is healing properly.

Ice is good: To help bring down swelling associated with a fracture but i would also make sure there is no gout that happens to be in the same location. I usally recommend heat over ice for gout. (in the event, that is what is wrong.).
