Patience: Hepatitis c exposure must generally be through blood or body fluid transmission and in a significant enough innoculum to stimulate an antibody response. I would recommend baseline testing and HIV testing as well. If positive consult a gastroenterologist.

A few things: The first is a routine antibody screen. If this is positive, then genetic typing of the virus (guides type of treatment). Then a hep c pcr to quantitate the amount of virus in your body. A liver function panel is also needed. A new test for liver fibrosis called the hep c fibrosure is an excellent non-invasive way to determine liver fibrosis without biopsy. Finally, a cea, AFP and a RUQ us.
