Get blood;urine test: Kidney cysts can sometimes cause reduced kidney function. However, the vast majority of the time, kidney cysts are not dangerous, will not cause cancer and will not reduce kidney function. You should see your doctor and get blood and urine tests to make sure your kidney is functioning normally. A kidney ultrasound might be helpful too.

Pain: Kidney cysts are very common and almost always asymptomatic. Occasionally they can get large and cause pain. Even less frequently they can get infected.
