Don't treat a lab: If your bilirubin is high because you have gilbert's non-disease, ignore it. If you have hemolysis evidenced by a high reticulocyte count, see if a cause can be found. If you have liver disease or biliary obstruction, your physician must find and treat the cause. Labs exist as guides to getting well again, not targets themselves.
