A member asked:

Hello! i've intestinal candidiasis and my doctor told me to take fluconazole (50mg 7 days) and metronidazole (250 mg 13 days). should i take this?

It depends: How was the diagnosis made. If you have had a biopsy (usually at endoscopy) that shows candidiasis or have a culture from the throat that is positive for candidiasis then treatment with Fluconazole is reasonable . If it is candidiasis in a stool culture, this can be a normal finding and does not need treatment. Finally, Metronidazole has no role in treatment of candidiasis.
