Beta Blockers: It is definitely possible for beta blockers to cause the heart rate to drop too low (called bradycardia) but cardiac arrest would be extremely unusual. A low heart rate becomes concerning when someone is having symptoms (such as sweating, dizziness, nausea, etc.) and if it doesn't increase with activity. Some elite athletes have resting heart rates below 40 bpm.

Possible but unlikel: Athletes may run about 40 and be comfortable, most of us are not in that shape. Under 60 deserves evaluation or discussion, or medication adjustment.
