DEET versus Picardin: Deet allergy can occur but is very rare. Concentrations of any repellant above 50% are not more effective than the 50% concentration and can be irritating. Picardin is considered an effective alternative to deet. Also, can consider using Permethrin treated clothing, shoes, bed nets, sleeping bags, etc.
