A 33-year-old female asked:

i wake up at nite to numbness in my hand, thumb and fingers but when i sit up in the bed and wiggle my fingers it goes away, lay back down it come back?

Pinched nerve: These symptoms are termed a radiculopathy; they often represent pinched nerves exiting from the cervical spine. A soft collar worn at night might help. If the symptoms continue, see your doctor for an exam and possible MRI of the cervical spine.

Carpal tunnel is a very common cause of symptoms you describe. Perhaps start simple, with a "neutral position wrist splint" worn at night. They are available at most drug stores.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a good thought...however, it's difficult to explain how sitting up in bed might alleviate the symptoms.
